What Is Tooth Cavity?
Tooth cavity is unfortunately the most common dental condition. It forms due to bacteria in the oral cavity that produce acids attacking the teeth. If left untreated, decay can progress deeper into the tooth, attacking the nerve, which can become gangrenous, turning into pus and causing extreme pain and an unpleasant odor.
The infection can spread aggressively beyond the root, reaching the jawbone, which becomes a serious situation for the patient.
Dental experts say that toothache is among the top three most unbearable pains for a person. That’s why the dentists at Deos Dental recommend scheduling two check-ups a year for professional cleaning and examinations, as early-stage cavities can be treated easily, especially with laser technology.
Cavities are essentially damage to the hard tissue of the tooth, such as the enamel, cementum, or dentin. The appearance of cavities can be influenced by diet, lifestyle, oral hygiene habits, the liquids we consume, the fluoride content in drinking water, the type of toothpaste we use, and the frequency of visits to a specialized dental clinic (at least twice a year for professional cleaning and an intraoral camera examination).
It is also important to note that genetics play a significant role in the development of cavities.
How many types of cavities are there?
- Coronal Cavities: These are the most common type of cavities, affecting both children and adults. They usually form between the teeth (interdental) or on the chewing surface (occlusal) of the tooth.
- Root Cavities: As people age, their gums recede, exposing the tooth’s roots. This area is more vulnerable to decay, and cavities can easily form on the exposed roots.
- Secondary Cavities: These are recurrent cavities that form around existing crowns or fillings, where bacteria and plaque tend to accumulate more easily.
At Deos Dental Clinic, lasers are used in a non-contact manner to treat cavities. This method avoids friction, heat toward the nerve, and vibrations, reducing the chance of microfractures or cracks in the enamel and dentin. The laser also improves adhesion by creating micro-retentions in the dentin and enamel, making it easier for the filling material to bond under pressure.
Cavity prevention
To prevent cavities, it is important to control plaque build-up using the following methods:
- Physical and Chemical Actions: Regular home care such as brushing, using toothpaste, flossing, and an oral irrigator (water flosser) is essential. Professional dental cleaning, photodynamic therapy, and ozone therapy can be done in a dental office.
- Cavity-Protective Diet: Certain foods, like apples, strawberries, garlic, and cheese, help protect against cavities.
- Strengthening Tooth Tissues: Applying toothpaste and dental varnishes that contain calcium and/or fluoride can increase the resistance of hard tooth tissues against decay.
Cavity-Protective Nutrition:
- Avoid Sugary and Acidic Drinks: These can lower the pH in your mouth, leading to acid attacks on enamel.
- Limit Sticky Foods: Foods like pasta and caramels can adhere to teeth for extended periods, increasing the risk of cavities.
By incorporating good dental hygiene practices and a cavity-protective diet, along with regular professional cleanings, dental health can be maintained more effectively.
The Importance of Oral Hygiene and Tooth Brushing:
- Proper Brushing is achieved by using vertical motions from the gums towards the tooth and circular movements on the chewing surfaces.
- A mixed brushing method is ideal, which cleans the teeth effectively while also massaging the gums.
- Avoid using a hard toothbrush to prevent damage to your gums and teeth.
- The toothbrush should be replaced monthly to maintain its effectiveness.
- In the evening, it’s recommended to use an oral irrigator (water flosser) and/or dental floss to clean between teeth and remove plaque.
At Deos Dental premium laser dentistry clinic, the dentist uses advanced technology such as intraoral camera to professionally evaluate the condition of the patient’s teeth. This helps assess the extent of the tooth damage and the type of cavity present. Based on this, the most suitable laser treatment for cavities is determined, restoring the patient’s smile and overall well-being.
Which are the advantages of Intraoral Camera Consultation?
- the patient can see the exact condition of their teeth in real time.
- clear and comprehensive image of the medical case.
- fast
- comfort
- reduces the stress level for the little patient by explaining the real issues with their teeth
In conclusion, we may say that the Deos Dental dentists, with the help of the intraoral camera, obtain clear, precise, and colour-accurate details in real time, all for the comfort and perfect smile of our DEOSpecial patients.
We all know that in the busy life of our century, the most valuable thing after health is time. The opinion of our patients about dental cavities treatment
Please meet Dr. Felicia Păduraru
Hello!
I’m Dr. Felicia Păduraru, a passionate dental implantologist, laser expert, and dedicated trainer.
My enthusiasm for life, people, and nature fuels my commitment to dentistry, a profession that allows me to express my talent and make a meaningful impact on my patients’ lives.
With over 11 years of hands-on experience, I have transformed the smiles of more than 2,500 patients and successfully completed over 1,750 arches using cutting-edge laser-assisted dental implants. I specialize in complex periodontal (gum) diseases, having effectively treated more than 1,380 such instances, and I pride myself on achieving outstanding results.
My educational journey began at the esteemed Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, where I earned my degree in Dental Medicine. Later, I obtained my diploma in Implantology and further pursued a Master’s degree in Oral Implantology at the Guillermo Marconi University in Rome, Italy. My quest for excellence didn’t stop there—I completed a second Master’s degree in Implantology through the accredited program of the gIDE Institute at Loma Linda University in Los Angeles, USA.

To effectively share the knowledge I have acquired with my dental colleagues, I became an accredited trainer recognized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity.
Given that 8 out of 10 Romanians experience some form of periodontal (gum) disease, I chose to explore this topic further and completed a Masterclass in periodontal surgery, guided by esteemed experts in the field of global dentistry.
Recognizing that medical education is a continuous journey essential for providing effective and up-to-date treatments, I make it a priority to attend annual courses on current topics related to implantology and laser technology in both specialized and general dentistry, including the Sky Fast & Fixed system.
I am also a speaker at the annual Lite Touch Conference, where I share my expertise on various applications of the Lite Touch Er. Yag Laser in daily dentistry. My presentations encompass a range of topics such as clinical courses on Er. Yag lasers, principles and practical applications in dentistry, and innovative approaches to surgery, implantology, and periodontology, so forth and so on.
For me, the Hippocratic Oath holds profound significance; I view it as a guiding principle in my work. My ultimate goal is to promote health and happiness among my patients, and each smile I help create, brings me a deep sense of fulfilment, in line with our motto: “Smile, Love, Live Deos!”

Our Patients - Our Friends
For us, at Deos Dental, the Hippocratic Oath is the essence of the medical act itself.
What could be more HONOURABLE than making a person healthy again and receive in return a warm smile and a heartfelt hug?!
But what could be more special than, in addition to treating health problems, giving a patient perfect dental aesthetics, a Hollywood smile, and a face radiating happiness, and feeling in their eyes that you have restored their confidence and self-esteem? We can say with certainty that there are no words to describe this sublime, sincere, and human feeling.
Yes, our patients become our friends and a part of our family, and their health, appearance, and happiness are our mission.
Yes, every patient is a fascinating, unique universe and represents more to us than just a business card; they are our purpose and goal, to make them feel special, and for this reason, we feel fulfilled.
Because we genuinely care about our patients’ health, we advise you not to forget about prevention and to schedule an appointment at least twice a year at a specialized dental clinic. After an intraoral camera exam and an X-ray, a professional dentist can identify any condition, no matter what stage it is in, and take prompt action.
Remember, prevention is the most cost-effective treatment. Dental health is just as important as any other part of our body, and a perfect smile defines your appearance, as well as your social and cultural status.
Be happy, give yourself a unique DEOS Smile!
